Preliminary Conference Schedule

::back to top::

Gene Roddenberry’s vision of the future sprang to life on the small screen on September 8, 1966. From the first moments of the opening sequence and the now immortalized words "Space, the final frontier," the world began to change. Roddenberry not only presented us with a vision of the future beyond this planet, he gave us hope that humanity could and would rise above our differences to achieve enlightenment, unity, and peace. Forty years later, these ideals are imbedded in the worldwide mythos known as Star Trek, which is the most influential television show of all time.

On September 8, 2006, Star Trek fans from around the globe will join in celebrating the show that changed the world. PlanetXpo’s STAR TREK 40 th Anniversary Gala Celebration & Conference in Seattle, WA, will provide some of these lucky fans with a once-in-a-lifetime weekend experience. On the night of the actual anniversary, you will join the First Lady of Star Trek, Majel Roddenberry, her son, Rod, and a bevy of Star Trek stars on top of the Space Needle in a champagne toast to the 40-year legacy of Gene Roddenberry. Throughout the weekend, you will have many opportunities to mingle with your favorite actors face-to-face in both formal and casual settings. Imagine being photographed with TOS stars Nichelle Nichols, George Takei, and Walter Koenig or TNG favorites Marina Sirtis and Jonathan Frakes! These treasured keepsakes will be made all the more precious when the actors sign them for you.

In addition to these exclusive opportunities, our conference programming is beyond compare. Along with meeting favorite Star Trek actors, such as Enterprise great John Billingsley, and Tim Russ and Garrett Wang from Voyager, you will meet Dr. Mae Jemison, the first female African-American astronaut. You will attend panels by great authors and scientists, including Martin Cooper who was inspired by Star Trek to invent an object that changed all of our lives—the cell phone! Add to this a film festival, a three-day pass to the Sci-Fi Museum, a formal banquet/awards ceremony, and a grand finale with all you favorite stars on stage performing an original radio play, and you have a conference that you will never forget.

 Autograph Room - Meet the actors face-to-face in a non-rushed, personal environment; some actors may be willing to personalize their autograph just for you; actors will be signing all weekend (schedule will be posted in official show program). Autographs - each actor will be setting their own price and the average will only be $20.

Walter Koenig to unveil "New Voyages" Premiere!

Walter Koenig, the actor who portrayed the character Pavel Chekov in the original Star Trek series on television and the first seven feature films, will introduce the premier showing of the Star Trek: New Voyages episode "To Serve All My Days" at the Star Trek: 40th Anniversary Gala Celebration & Conference on September 8, 2006.

Koenig has a special interest in the latest "webisode" of the highly acclaimed Internet series. He stars in it, reprising his role as the dashing navigator aboard USS ENTERPRISE. Koenig will be dedicating the premier showing to his favorite charity, Habitat for Humanity. Koenig has taken great pride in his continues role in the Star Trek mythos exclaiming, "Thank you. I have come home again," when he walked aboard the bridge set of New Voyages.

Along with Koenig at the premier will be James Cawley, creator and producer of Star Trek: New Voyages and the actor who plays James Kirk in the series. Cawley stated, "This episode was like a dream come true for us. We’ve had Trek co-stars in every episode, but never before have we produced an episode with a Trek icon like Walter. To work with him and share in the premier with him on such an important day is unbelievable. I am in awe of how everything has worked out."

Star Trek: New Voyages first hit the fan realm in 2004 and quickly has become the leading fan production on the Internet, and has nestled itself as a continuing part of Star Trek history and future. Dr. Jemison was Science Mission Specialist (a NASA first) on the STS-47 Spacelab J flight, a US/Japan joint mission. She conducted experiments in life sciences and material sciences, and was co-investigator in the bone Cell Research experiment in the Spacelab laboratory module. Jemison resigned from NASA in March 1993.

Chemical engineer, scientist, physician, teacher and astronaut, she has a wide range of experience in technology, engineering, and medical research. In addition to her extensive background in science, she is well-versed in African and African-American Studies and is trained in dance and choreography. Her inspiration for going into NASA was African-American actress, Nichelle Nichols who portrayed Lt. Cmdr. Uhura on Star Trek

We regret to announce that Jason Alexander, due to an unavoidable conflict with our Judicial System (he has Jury duty and must be home on Sunday Sept 10) will not be able to join in on our Celebration. He wanted all of the fans to know "how deeply disappointed and saddened that he will miss such a joyous occasion".

Mr. Chafer co-founded Celestis, Inc., and led the team that garnered worldwide notice for the first launch of a post cremation memorial spaceflight -- carrying the ashes of several celebrities, space scientists, and enthusiasts into orbit. He also served as President of the Celestis Foundation, the non profit affiliate of Celestis, Inc. that makes cash awards to promising space ventures, organizations, and to individuals who are contributing to the advance of space commerce and space development.

Before co-founding Celestis, Mr. Chafer created a satellite-based, interactive videoconferencing network for telemedicine and distance learning in Texas and West Virginia combining medical schools, vocational schools, NASA, the Appalachian Regional Commission, and state governments.
